PTA MEETING WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6

Our new Athletic Director, Coach Fish, will be at the meeting for introductions. Woodrow SBDM meeting will be in the same location at 6 p.m. Hope to see everyone there.

COMMUNITY SAFETY ACTION GUIDELINES

Both Woodrow and JL Long Administrations have worked to compile a clear set of guidelines for our parents and community to use when reporting crime/code violations in and around our schools.

Please refer to these guidelines when determining who to contact when a crime or violation has occurred. Be sure to save numbers on your phone so that authorities can be contacted quickly when needed.

Feel free to forward this to members of our community so that they may also know who to contact when issues arise.

Many thanks to all in the community for their efforts to keep our schools and neighborhoods safe!

Community Safety Action Guidelines

Dallas ISD is introducing the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System. Students will be trained on when and how to use this system starting in April.

DREAM TEAM APPLICATION

Sophomore Class: Join the Dream Team Today! The mission of the DREAM Team is to provide mentorship to students with high motivation, high scholastic ability and performance, and a dream of attending college. Students join the program their second semester of sophomore year and participate in monthly meetings and volunteer opportunities through the end of their senior year. The Rotary Club of Dallas awards two seniors a scholarship of $4,000 - $8,000 per year for four years of college (if they maintain the 3.0 GPA requirement.) This program helps students realize the dream of going to college and many of our alumni now have successful careers in law, accounting, commercial real estate, and more. The application deadline is April 8.

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

This is an exciting week for our 9th and 10th graders. This week’s STAAR EOC results impact school accountability, teacher effectiveness ratings, and individual student graduation eligibility. English teachers have prepared these students, so please make sure they get a good night’s rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and bring their charged District-issued laptop. Plan to bring them early so they can settle into their testing room without being rushed.

Also, as we continue to improve campus safety and work to minimize classroom disruptions, students without a pass in the hallways will be held with our Reset Coordinator until the end of the period. This will help keep bathrooms clear and hallways peaceful. Please reinforce the importance of having a sense of urgency when transitioning to class as well as the importance of daily attendance.
