AUDITIONS FOR ONE ACT PLAY

Auditions for this year's One Act Play, "We Are the Sea," will be Monday, November 15 at 7 p.m. AND Tuesday, November 16 at 7 p.m. Students interested in being a part of this production will need to attend BOTH days. Both nights will be finished by 9 p.m.

"We Are the Sea": Norah, Una, and Iseult set sail from Ireland to escape the ravages of hunger, only to find a new set of dangers on their ocean voyage. The so-called "coffin ships" are full of illness, squalor, and grief, and the passengers can rely only on one another and their memories for comfort. When a cruel, angry sailor refuses to show them mercy, it seems like even their stories might be lost. But they don't know that the sea that swirls around the ship is listening. The sea remembers everything. And the sea demands justice. A poetic and striking historical drama with a hypnotic ocean chorus.

MONDAY: We will read the play (it will take about 35 minutes) and assign groups to different scenes to prepare. The prepared scenes will be presented on TUESDAY.  We will also go over some basics concerning accents of specific characters.

TUESDAY: You will present the scenes (in the groups) that were assigned and prepared on Monday.

Irish accents are IMPORTANT for the characters of Norah, Una, Iseult and John. They are NOT for the sea or for the sailors. We also understand that Irish accents are a WORK IN PROGRESS!!! We are not expecting perfection at the audition!
